15mm Fantasy-Battle Valor Ocr Tribe Complete

I completed the early posted Battle Valor Orc Tribe to join my 15mm fantasy collection.  These figures are great and paint up really well look great en-mass.

They are on the larger size and are quite bulky but they fit in with my image of the varied tribes that make up the race of Orcs.....and as they have woolly mammoths I cold imagine these being from the northern reaches of the world.

Anyway here they are...........................

The whole tribe, lots of hefty orc warriors on foot and some great individuals.

The orc warriors have some help from their friends, the trolls.

A little bit of shooty support.  Not that the orcs favour this form or war as it is not orcy enough to kill your enemy from afar!

The heavies.....a few units of trolls to smash the foes to pieces.

Mammoths and crushers, the only mounted elements of the tribe.

Big Boss and war leaders....

This is just one of the many Orc or Goblin tribes that form my hordes.

15mm Fantasy-Battle Valor Orc Tribe

A small update of a new, finished, unit of my new Orc tribe.  Battle Valor Orc 'Line Breakers' or in my set up Large Cavalry.

Not much to say excepted lovely minis that paint up really well.

15mm Fantasy-Battle Valor Orcs

Battle Valor 15mm fantasy range, which is very large, very good and expanding all the time.  Ed Spettigue has done a fantastic job as is massive supporter of the 15mm fantasy community.  I have backed both of his Kickstarters and they are great value.

Having had this army sat in a box for more than it should have been I have finally managed to put some paint on metal.  Obviously they are not finished, I forgot to take the bases to work lol  Here I have mocked them up on a 160mm x 80mm base which would be a KoW horde, I love the mass effect.

These figures are just wonderful.  The detail and variety is great and they are a joy to paint.  I have chosen a non-green Orc flesh for this tribe to set it apart from all the other Orc and Goblin tribes I have, there are atleast 5 different tribes so far.  I look forward to painting up the rest of the metal pile.

15mm Fantasy, Lots of Them

I have been busy re-basing, touching up, painting and finishing a whole wave of of figures for my fantasy collection.
As it is fantasy not everything needs to be 15mm but the effect on the table, of the various sizes, is visually appealing.

First up is a larger than life drummer....he stands nearly 70mm tall and is based on a 80x80mm base.  He is a giant that will beat the drum to bring the forces of evil to the front and encourage them to close with the enemy.

I have not decided what army or faction he will support, probably my Orcs of the White Hand which have giant trolls accompany them to the battlefield.

Obviously the figure is a GW Lord of the Rings Troll.  he is a plastic figure and I really like him.  I was after one for ages and finally picked one up, at a good price on EBay.

Spiders, Pump Wagons and a Boss

Ok so the pictorial brake down.....

Firstly the Giant Spider, I love this Demonworld model, in fact I love it so much I have 4.  This one has been made so it can be used as a Warboss.

The frontage of these colossal creatures is twice that of a normal unit, so that is 160mm long and 80mm deep.
They are however very tough as well as surprisingly agile, despite it's size and undoubted power it treats woods and rough ground as normal going enabling a nasty surprise from otherwise quite secure sectors of the battlefield.

Orc Pump Wagon
A Demonworld model, I do love their stuff!
A dastardly construct from the mind of the Orc metal smiths and shaman fire makers.
It is a mobile piece of field artillery with the added bonus of ignoring defenses such as walls, hedges and field fortifications.
The trumpet like barrel spews forth a sticky, flammable substance similar to Greek Fire.
It is a weapon that will cause terror in even the hardiest of knights!

Orc Warboss

One of the many fierce Orc Bosses

Fantasy All The Way

Ok, I am back at work for 6 weeks and back in the painting mode.  The first two weeks have been quite productive.  The difference this time is that I have brought all the gear with me to finish off the painted units.

First up is a Demonworld Giant Spider and I mean Giant....I love these beasts and my Orc and Goblin army now have 4!  The frontage of the base is 160mm so double the normal unit frontage I use for my fantasy armies.

Below are a stage by stage photo record of the paint job.

 Undercoat, army painter white

 Block painting begins

 The completed paint job.

 A rear view.

 The finished piece.
Based, flocked, washed with Army Painter Dark Tone and the sprayed with matt varnish.

More 'Black Orcs'

Here are the latest batch of my ever expanding 15mm Fantasy, the only scale to play out these epic struggles'.

Saying that these figures are about 18mm and quite stocky, hence Black Orcs or Great Orcs.

The models themselves are from the Blood Dawn range supplied by Magistar Militair.  They are lovely models and paint up very well.

In this batch we have 2 1/2 infantry units and 1 wild boar unit.

They are based on 80mmx40mm and 2 bases to a standard unit.

Personally I favour the fan generated Hail Caesar Fantasy rules, the Hail Caesar rules themselves are very good and easily adapted to the fantasy genre.  However they could happily be used in many rule systems that do not require individual or element removal.

A little word about the bases, they were bought from Tiny Tin Troopers and come pre magnabased and they are just great. The cost of the bases works out the same when compared with buying pre cut bases and magnetic strips yourself!  Well worth the money.

Black Orcs.....15mm Fantasy

Ok, for the first time in ages my real love 15mm FANTASY!!!!

These are a few bases of 'Black Orcs' , they are big, bad and nasty melee troops.
The miniatures are from the Blood Dawn range, sold by Magister Militar.
The casting are very sharp with a good level of details.  They are 15-20mm in size, hence the Black Orc tag I will be giving them.

They will be based on 40x40mm bases, this is just for the 'look' rather than a rules set designation.
The they will be used for fighting mass battles using Hail Sauron, Hail Caesar fantasy version or Kings of War, which a couple of guys at PAW are interested in playing in 15mm

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I am away from home working and using my IPhone, need to start packing a camera!
More pics once they are based and had a matt spray coat on, 'less shiny'!!

Clash Of Evil!!

At last, after a very long brake I finally got to play one of my real passions in wargaming, 15mm Fantasy Mass Battle. Al, from PAW and I played out a game involving Orcs and Goblins on my side and Undead on his.

We used an adaptation of Black Powder which has been given out on their Yahoo Group. It was developed for Lord of the Ring and Warmaster so we had to juggle the stats slightly.

The game was fought on an 8ft x 4ft table with quite large armies.
One of the appeals of fantasy battle is the sheer size and scope of the armies that you can. As you will see in later pictures the armies were quite large.
These two pictures just show the initial deployment of the two battle lines. In the next post we will get a little closer the combatants.
