15mm Fantasy-Stygian Grand Mage on Beast

Finally gave this previously painted beast so crew...

It was made to represent the Grand Mage of the Stygian Empire giving him mobility and protection of the field of battle and generally look awesome!

The beast is a Games Workshop triceratops and the figures are a mix from my spares box.

More Stygians.....

The last few units for my Stygian Empire army for this stint away with work.  The army is coming along strongly, obviously I need to base them, once I have I will post more pictures.

First up mounted lancers, an elite unit in the Stygian army that will back up the guard lancers.

A line cavalry unit armed with spear and bow.  This type will make up the bulk of the Stygian mounted arm.

lastly a foot unit.  A standard line unit armed with spear....

They are all Xyston Persians, love that range and yes I do have an historical Persian army.  Painted in my usual style, block paint, pick out details and then Army Painter Dark Tone and dullcoted once dry....basing to come.

Stygian Foot Troops

A WIP picture of a Stygian Foot unit, part of the Stygian Imperial Hordes that gather when the call for war goes out....

Once again Xyston's Persian range

Stygian Horse Archers

Stygia likes it's cavalry and the mounted bow are the best in the fantasy realm, only Centaurs can best them for mounted archery skill.

The figures are from Xyston's Late Achamenid  Persian range

15mm Fantasy, Stygian Royal Army

The backbone of the Stygian Royal Army, 3 regiments of shielded pike.  Heavy infantry with long spears forming a solid wall in defense and an unstoppable tide on the offensive!

Eventually these guys will be backed up by bowmen and slingers, as well as lighter armed foot spear.

The cavalry arm will get several regiments of Guard Lancers and some medium and light horse as well.

I have used Xyston 'Egyptian Marines" from their Persian range.

15mm Fantasy Stygian Royal Army and Barbarians

Some fresh units for my fantasy collection, this time the Stygian Royal Army, these are the devil worshipers from the southern lands.
The army is vast with many races and creeds represented on the field but heart of any large Stygian force if the Royal Army.

The core of their cavalry are armored lancers, heavy impact cavalry that can smash a lesser foe and they consider all non Stygian lesser beings!

These figures are Xyston Achamid Persian Guard Cavalry

The commanders, one for the foot and one for the horse.

The wild men of the north....Barbarians!

 Show me your WAR FACE!!

These are wild, naked men very vicious and very brutal!
They also like the colour blue.......

Again the great Xyston range, this time Gauls.  One thing I have learnt from these Barbarians, you have to repaint the eyes, they all look like the are closed when painted blue!

Mine Mutants

I posted some poor pictures of this first unit.  A 4 base large warband unit of Mine Mutants, the twisted populous of the Stygian pits whose bodies have been twisted and deformed by the warping minerals they excavate for the alchemists of Stygia

These are actually Demonworld figures from their Goblin range but I thought they would be just right to add a little variety to my Stygians, as I have plenty of Orcs and Goblins.

This is the second of the large warbands, although there are only 3 bases in the picture I do have the figures for a forth, I just run out of bases.....however you will have to trust me they will be on the table ready to do battle soon(ish)

Mutants

The last picture from my initial painting surge.
A 4 base unit of 'Mine Mutants', these deformed beings and their ancestors have worked for generations in the chemical mines in the remote parts of Stygia.  This has resulted in twisted bodies and extra limbs!
They fight as a large warband but of dubious quality.
As well as Stygia these poor souls could also be dragged into the Demon Army

More Troops Ready for Battle

More of the finished elements that I have done.

Two bases of Acolytes, these could be double hatted and used it at least two of my armies The Demon Army and the Stygian Army.
The figures are Demonworld from their Ishtak range

More of the awesome Black Orcs, three bases worth of the large imposing figures by Blood Dawn. They are great miniatures and the Black Orc tribes form the shock troops of any good Orc Warlords horde.

Orc Crossbow, a basic missile unit able to give the Orcs a little stand off capability not that they stand off much.  Could be useful to soften up the defenders of Human and Dwarf field fortifications or disrupt Human and Elf cavalry.
These are Demonworld figures
