Flames of War US Army Commission

Another US assault platoon for one of the PAW club members.
Battlefront miniatures, not too bad.  I think that makes 5 platoons I have painted as part of this commission.

WW2 Commission-British Infantry and Paras

Not all of the British given too me were paratroopers, most of these are regular infantry, so no Denision Smock for them....

So 8 paratroopers, lots of brenguns and an officer.

A selection of 'Tommys' regular British infantry

All are battlefront miniatures but bases as singles for Bolt Action games, or what ever else Al wants to use the for.

WW2 Commission

When I have so my much of my own to paint and complete why do friends give me commissions to do for them!  But I am too nice and never say no.

These are Battlefront WW2 British Paratroopers, they are actually a repaint as my friend bought them as a part painted project.

I must admit I did enjoy painting these figures and am quite pleased with how they turned out.

The pictures are not the best, the figures are not as dark as they look.

Commission Work FOW Russians

Commissar
Officers and Commissar to lead the brave men of the Soviet Union!

Officers and Commissar

Assault Engineers
The assault engineers are the heavily armed assault troops of the Red Army that lead the way when taking on the stubborn defenses of the German Fatherland.

A group shot of what I have painted in this session. 28 elements of Assault Engineers, 8 elements of Ivans (infantry), 4 HMGs, 4 Medium Mortars and 6 commanders a total of 261 figures.

These are the latest part of a commisson given to me by a PAW club memeber Al.  He has amassed a very large WW2 Russian collection for both FOW and Bolt Action.

Soviet Tread Heads!!

So I have had a little push on the Flames of War front and painted a lot of Soviets again!

below were the first of the armored units.

5 KV1s, these model are Battlefront and were great to paint and look good!
A view I will try not to offer a German tank or Pak gun!
T34/85s for the late period, again Battlefront minis that I bought on EBay (god bless them!)
Well that the start of my Soviet push and now there are another 10 KV1s, this time Zvede and another platoon of infantry. Recent purchases include 2 platoons of Sappers, with vehicles, £20 on my show's bring and buy, more infantry, Starlin Organsf and artillery off EBay!
The Soviets will be a very large army!!!!

FOW Soviet Heavy Mortars

To add some close in heavy support we have a company of heavy mortars, these four tubes will provide a nasty shock for the German invader when they dare to take more soil from the motherland!!

Command Team and FOOs
Heavy Mortar Section
Not sure if I put the models the correct way on the base??? Too late now!

Heavy Mortar Company

Some heavy mortar support for my soviet infantry. A 2 platoon company, very nice models and happy with the look. These are Battlefront Miniatures although they are not as 'stocky' as their SMG troops.

A close up of the individual 'tube'.

The essential bit of the company, the commander and the spotter team.

FOW Soviets

Ok, finally get to paint some of my own collection! I have got the FOW bug and have chosen Soviets. I wanted to do Germans but there are already at least 2 German armies at the club.

This is the first Soviet platoon that I have painted and they are Battlefront miniatures. They were very nice to paint and I am doing them in a way which should make the army quite quick.

If you look at the pictures you will see I have gone away from my usual drybrush painting method and adopted a block style with a wash.

I wanted the Soviets to look quite dark and dirty, I think I achieved that a little too well on this platoon!

The basic method was an undercoat spray of FOW German Armour, which is a yellow ochre colour. Then I just painted the figure's details, webbing, weapons flesh and helmet etc.
The whole lot was then given a wash of Games Workshop Delvin Mud which brings out the creases and gives them some depth.

For this army I have somehow managed to get a mix of three different manufacturers Battlefront, QRF and The Plastic Soldier company.
I will do a comparison shot once I have painted examples of all three.

Comments welcome.........
