15mm Fantasy-Work In Progress

Continuing the theme of using old Games Workshop Warhammer figures in my 15mm realm here is a picture of a new faction....Chaos/Abyssal Plague Hordes.

The 'Plague Bearers'  will be a large infantry/troll style unit and the 'Nurglings' will be a shooting, spitting venom darts and close combat unit.

The second WIP is a mock up of an Empire Horde unit, under Kings of War.  It's based on the Renaissance Spanish Colunela a combined arms unit of pike, shot and sword/halberd men.

I have based the numbers and layout on John Roache's great blog http://olicanalad.blogspot.com/search/label/Italian%20Wars.  It's a great blog and inspirational on so many levels.
The figures are Old Glory and Venaxia

!5mm Fantasy

These are older models, ones that i painted quite a few years ago but have never been under the lens.  The form part, of probably, my favorite fantasy army Chaos.

First up are the Dragon Ogres, two units, move as cavalry but can fight as infantry a very strong component.  The figures are GW Warmaster.

Chaos Familiars, no special ability but transformed followers of the chaos powers, but the variety does look good!
The figures are older GW Familiars.

Plague Bearers, these troops are capable of ranged attack using a poisoned dart/spray with they spit out of their mouth.  Meeting these in close combat can also be bad for your health as any bite is sure to get infected!
GW figures again, I do love getting these cheap and re-purposing them!

And finally, War Hounds.  Not strictly kept for the Chaos armies and not that effective on the field but can harass very well.
These are Warmaster figures.

Nugle Horde

9 Stands worth of Nurgle Plauge Bearers to act as minor deamons from the summond deamon pool.  They make a great addition to my Death Guard Space Marines.

World Eater Khorne Army

The second Bazerker detachment, this one will be led by a Deamon Prince, hence only 7 stands.  I have a selection of Deamon Prince models at hoem and will find a suitable one later.

Nice gold face masks for the Princes Detachment
World Eater Khorne Detachment

My first World Eater unit of 8 stands including Champion, Standard and Icon.  I will have atleast 3 of these in the World Eater Army one of which will accompany the Deamon Prince.

The basing may look simple but my Epic armies fight for control of a desert plannet.

Below are the World Eater standard bearer and the Icon bearer, just to add some boost to my Bazerker Detachment

Epic 40K Chaos Nurgle Plauge Blight

The pictures below are my first take on a Nurgle PlaugeBlight, an Epic 40K VTOL.

The first picture shows the basic model that I used for the conversion.  It is a Mech Warrior plastic model of a Hawk Moth Gunship.  It makes the perfect base.

The next shots show the basic paint job I did on it so that the Mech colours would be hidden and I had a plain base to begin with. I used a green mix for the bodywork and then GW Bleach Bone for the engines and weapons.  As this blog grows you will see the theme of 'bone' coloured weapons for my Epic Nurgle army.

A liberal application of Green Stuff, I use pre-mixed MMD Green Putty.  It is quick, simple and dries quite fast.  As you can see there was no real need for 'modelling' the putty just a rough coating and then some tweaking with a toothpick to create the 'holes'.

Once the putty was dry I applied a good coating of GW Devlan Mud wash, I love the stuff it does so much to improve the look of the model.

The final step was a gentle dry brushing of GW Bleach Bone over the bone coloured areas to add a little highlighting.

The model was then sealed with a spray of Army Painter Anti Shine Matt Varnish.

Epic 40K Chaos

 Chaos Nurgle Reaver Titan

This miniture I bought off Ebay, it is one of about 7 I bought from a guy called Desperado, nice little conversions that work perfecty with my Nurgle Chaos forces
Based sprayed white, I used Army painter white and found it a little 'chalky' I think GW gives a smoother finish, however foir Titan size models it works.

The above two photos show the 'basic' paint jobs of Model Color Lime Green, GW Bleach Bone and Model Color Bronze.  The Lime Green does eventually get maksed by a wash.

Now I have liberally covered the 'rotten' areas with  GW Thraka Green wash, works well as a base coat for Nurgle.
Above it the model with a very genorous wash of GW Devlan Mud, really adds the bepth tones it all down.

Here is the finished model, minus the basing as I do not have an appropriate circular base with me at work.

After the GW washes I simply heighlighted the 'bone' metal pieces with GW Bleached Bone, very simple and quite quick.

I have also picked out the 'sores' and 'boils' that the bless of Nurgle induce.

Overall I was quite happy with this model and feel that the photos do not really do it justice but I was never good at taking pics of models.
