6mm War of Spanish Succession Bavarians

As you know or could easily work out form this blog I am easily distracted.

I posted some work in progress pictures last year and thought I would post what I have completed so far.

Baccus figures, they are just lovely! Based in battalions for infantry and two/three squadrons for cavalry on 80mm x 40mm bases.
The single based cavalry unit represents a single squadron, the Guards I think?

Wargaming Butterfly-6mm War of Spanish Succession

I like, probably most wargamers am a little bit of a butterfly.  I saw a YouTube video by an American called Project Wargamer who was doing 6mm ACW.  His painting approach sparked my interest and I just happened to have some 6mm Baccus WSS troops.
I have always like the WSS period and I feel that 6mm will look great for this conflict.

So the first thing I did when I was back at my painting table was get out the 6mm WSS packs.  I decided on the Bavarians at Blenheim.

Below is a pictorial guide on my test unit...

The figures for my first battalion sorted.  43 figures including 6 grenadiers and 7 command figures

My proposed base layout.  3 ranks to represent the formation style of the period with command front and back.

A simple light spray with white undercoat.

 The block painting begins

The finished results, of the painting.  It looks a little basic because it is but it is all there.

In the above pictures the basic paint job has had a slightly watered down Army Painter Strong wash applied.  I think it really brings out the details.

Initial basing, ie the sand.  The base size is 80mm x 40mm
The labels means I can identify each unit on the table.

And the competed unit.....I think they turned out ok.

6mm Modern West German Micro Armour(Commission)

Before I finished my work rotation I manged to paint a few pieces for this commission, for another friend at PAW.

I think they are all H&R models and paint up very nicely.

This batch, artillery, tanks and MICVs

155mm artillery pieces, the bases need some flocking, which will be done at home.

A pride of Leopards, I think they Mk1s

Marders, a prime MICV

Team Yankee 6mm

Just to reinforce the fact that I can not keep myself on one track here is a trial paint job on some EBay goodness.

I won a couple of lots on Ebay to start my Team Yankee 6mm project, I love the Cold War gone hot scenario and love GHQ miniatures, despite the price of them.

 The loot I won, 30 T80s, 30 BMP2s and support vehicles.

A 10 tank T80 company, a nice simple paint job, but I think it looks quite effective.

A base spray of Army Painter Army Green, a light dry brush of a pale green, pick out the tracks and details.

The cover in a good coat of Army Painter Dark Tone wash, not the thick dip but the squeeze bottle acrylic wash.

Once it is all dry the last stage is a nice dry brush of a pale sand colour to bring out the fantastic detail on these models.

My only frustration with these is the turret HMGs such a pain to cut off the sprue and glue on....but after chatting with others in the TY 6mm community, most don't bother lol

Happy to read comments.
