10mm Russian Seven Years War

 A little bit of variety for this post and a return to an old project.  I have added more Russian regiments to my collection based on the Russian army at the battle of Zorndorff.   

Below we have 220 infantrymen and 4 mounted generals.

All figures are from the great Pendraken range and flags were self printed, apart from the very bad grenadier ones which i had to hand paint, very badly lol

10MM Seven Years War Russians

So after the Giant army I went the opposite way and returned to some 10mm Seven Years Wars.  As part of my Seven Years War collection I'm building the Russian army for the battle of Zorndoff.

So lots of red uniforms.....and quite a few cossacks.

Warmaster Commission Part 2

The second Warmaster army, Dark Elves.  Now I'm not a big Elf fan, so far I do not have any in my 15mm collection, but these were quite nice so i will see what I can find for my 15mm.

This was a nice army to paint, I went for a dark colour scheme of a 'traditional' black, red and purple pallet.

Again these are Kallistra figures

Warmaster Commission

Whilst at home I answered a message on a wargames Facebook page where someone was looking to have their Warmaster figures painted.  So the end result was I was sent a box full of Kallistra Barbarians/RomanoBritish and Dark Elf minitures.

These were the first Kallistar figures that I have painted and I must say I do like their miniatures.

So the eye candy

 So the army consists of leaders(obviously), magicians, 1 mounted warriors, 2 mounted bow, 5 warband and 1 bow 

 The Leaders

 Warbands, these are from th RomanoBritish range and the client wanted a light blue and white shield designs.

 These foot figures come on strips of 4, two strips to a base.

 The bow (sorry for the fuzzy picture), while these come in strips of 4 you have to cut the strips in half to base them, fortunately the nice people at Kallistra mold a little indent into the strip base to ease cutting.

 Bothe mounted bow and mounted warriors come individually, unlike GW Warmaster who come cast as a strip.

These are ready to be sent to client once I am back in the UK and I am working my way through the Dark Elves.

10mm League of Augsburg

The last game using the League of Augsburg forces was fought whilst home.  I did not take part but 'umpired' instead as we had 4 players plus me.  We used our 'go to' set of Warlord's Pike and Shotte.

The game pitted an Allied army who had to try and take the town and drive off the French, they failed!

The guys who actually rolled the dice and moved the figures appeared to have a good time and the rules played very well.

War of the League of Augsburg or Nine Years War

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

The first post of the year is the last game of 2018, it is also the third game in the Warlord Games Black Powder series, a game of Pike and Shotte.  Now we have played all three books I must admit I really enjoy they way the games play and how much fun we have with them.  For a guy like me the conformity of rule books over the three periods just adds to the fun.

This year we will be trying Hail Caesar with Fantasy additions based on the Facebook Group 'Shadow Storm'

As for this game it features armies of the late 17th Century battling in Europe, the army for the Sun King fighting the league of allies.  So this fits in right at the end of the period covered by 'Pike and Shotte' book.  We used the regiment as a single unit and did not divide the pike and shotte elements.

All the figures are the fantastic Pendraken 10mm League of Augsburg range and are painted and owned by yours truly.

The Danish infantry.  The Danes were a little more advanced than the rest and had already dispensed with their pike.  To show this in the game each regiment was give one extra shooting dice.

The game played out really well, although we did run out of time.  It ended with a minor allied victory.  There were four of us playing and it was an enjoyable way to end the wargaming year.

10mm Seven Years War Russian

Just a very quick update, only one unit of Russian Cuirassiers, Prince Fedorovich.

Again the standard Russian Cuirassier uniform.

I have not painted 10mm Seven Years War for ages but a few packs fell in to my hands out of my 'lucky dip box' (I bag my figures for my ongoing projects into units and put them all into a big plastic tub and blind pic what to paint).  It just so happens that I got three bags in a row this time around.

The whole batch.  In front are 5 Russian Generals.

 

The Novotroiskiy Cuirassier, now all Russian cuirassiers in this period look the same.  Buff coats, red saddle cloths and black cuirass.  

The only thing that marks the regiments apart are the colours of their standards, this regiments colour is green.

The 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the Observation Corps Grenadiers.  the Observation Corps wore standard infantry uniform except for their boots, they had been issued with black dragoon boots, the dragoons where being reorganised at the start of the war.

 

All figures are from Pendraken, my only (very small) moan, more of a exhale is the cast on flags and this is only because I am not a very good, in fact I'm rubbish, at freehand painting lol
