Napoleonics (Commission)

The painting for 2016 has begun....I begun with Napoleonic commission work,

Started with French limber markers, these are commission paints and the guy only wanted two horses, personally I prefer a four horse limber.

These two pictures are  casualty markers (commission), they will be used in Black Powder.
I also have 19 standing casualties in the offing.

All figures are Old Glory

15mm Black Powder Napoleonics

Here are some commission pieces for a fellow club member.  Black Powder Napoleonics in 15mm, by far the best scale to use!
All the figures are Old Glory, I really do like their range and you get a bit of variety in each pack

Above are two pictures of the 'Black Brunswickers'.  These are painted for the 1815 campaign.  They are not as dark in real life as they look in the pictures.

French Line Lancers, these are based in pairs as light cavalry (a local convention at our club).  It does give a very quick way of telling the difference between lights and heavies.

And finally a large regiment of Chasseurs a Cheval de la Garde.  I thought I would make theses a large unit to give them more presence on the field.

There are a few other units that I have done in this commission but no pictures yet.  My own Napoleonic collection is the allies of the Grande Armee'.  I chose this mixed bag to give me plenty of choice both with gaming and painting!  I have completed the Baden contingent of 6 infantry battalions, 1 jager battalion, 1 cavalry regiment and 2 foot batteries, a total of 156 infantry, 8 cavalry and 2 guns and crew.  I'll post some pictures once the basing is complete.

The next major contingent will be the Westphalians......

More French...I only have photos of two infantry regiments but I have painted an another two horse regiments but pictures will have to follow.

Below is Regiment Normandie, nothing special about this regiment just a sold unit.

And Regiment Crussoll, again a standard line regiment.

I still have 3 more foot and a couple of horse to complete.....I look forward to seeing all these guys on the table.

League of Augsburg, more French Infantry

Another French infantry regiment, Regiment Le Reine.  These are from Pendraken's fantastic 10mm range which are just stunning!

Next up for this project will be Dutch Brandenburg Regiment and a Garde Francis for the French.
I still have about 8 foot regiments, 7 horse regiments and about 6 artillery pieces to finish this project.  That is over 400 foot figures alone! lol

League of Augsburg

Here is the French Regiment Vermandois, they are in the standard light grey uniform with a little bit of colour.
After my last painting purge I realized I needed more French foot, so I will be painting them up 2 to 1 units in favour of the French over the allies.

League of Augsburg......More cavalry

The last LoA addition for a while, running out of complete units to paint....But these are the French cavalry regiment Orlenes.  Quite standard for French cavalry of the period, light grey, reed trim....still nice though.
Pendraken please, please continue the range.....I love these armies!

Obviously they need a coat of matt varnish spray!

Hot Off The Painting Table

You guest it more 10mm League of Augsburg and 15mm Ancient Persian!!!

First up French cavalry Regiment Prince Camille, I chose these as they are quite colourful with the pink trim, pink musician and red standard bearers!
Again 10mm Pendraken figures, great minis!  To finish these off they need a coat of spray matt varnish.

15mm Persians.....another unit added, the army now has 7 battle-groups of cavalry.

These are Xyston minis and they suit this painting style, dry brushing, very well!

French Napoleonic, Commission

The latest and probably the last paint jobs for Al in his FOG Napoleonic collection.
Here is a unit of Swiss Infantry, 3rd Regiment I think.  French style uniforms but in red, a little different

French foot artillery howitzer.

The last ones a unit of French Guard Lancers, 2nd 'Dutch' Lancers I think.  I am not sure of the make of these figures but they were quite nice to paint.

I'm getting into taking photos of my figures with a white back ground, I think it makes them stand out more...just need a decent camera as these are being taken on my new IPad lol

French 'Dutch' Red Lancers

Ok the mountain of Al's unpainted Napoleonic lead is growing small and this is one of the last full French units.

Some cavalry for his Guard in the shape of the 'Red' lancers.  I don't know who made them but they come open handed so I used some 30mm spears to make the lances.

These also show the new style, that I am using for Al's figures, of using Army Painter Dark Tone, basically I can not find GW Babad Black wash and their new one is not as good, oh and I have said I am never buying 'new' GW stuff again after their latest 'trade mark' farce!

The difference is the colours show up better and you still get some 'shading' when you look closely.

Sorry about the picture quality I am using my IPhone.

More Napoleonic

Just a selection of finished Napoleonic troops for my friend Al.  They were actually painted at the end of last year but I finally based them in December.
The plastic boxes of metal that Al presented me with some time ago has nearly run out but not quite, there is more to come.  There will be a few more French and some British to come.

More French WIP

Ok I am away with work for the next few weeks which gives me plenty of time to paint figures!!
I have brought a various

Below are some work in progress French line infantry for Al's on going commission.
French Line Infantry
They are painted in my usual fashion, block painted and then was in GW Badad Black
I'll post more pictures once I have based them.

Also on the painting table are FoW Hungarian artillery men for an other member of PAW, I've done 20 out of 64 so far.
For myself I am painting Spanish infantry for my Carthaginian Army in 15mm.  So faar I have just done the 12, only another 96 to go!  Good job I have over 4 weeks left here!

French Imperial Guard

Two new units for my friend Alan's Napoleonic French, these are now being based for FoG Napoleonics, his rules of choice.
Not sure on the makers of the figures but they were nicely sculpted and very nice to paint.

Guard Chasseurs
Guard Grenadiers

To paint these two units I have adapted my style very slightly.  They were both undercoated with a blue primer first, Humberol French Blue, they were then painted in the usual way and a coat of Games Workshop Black Wash added.

Napoleonic Light Troops (WIP)

Firstly sorry for the bad pictures I took them on my IPhone.
These are WIP pictures of French light troops and casualty markers.
They were all done in my usual style, sprayed white, block painted and washed with GW Badad Black.  I then highlight the white bits and other light colours just to bring them out a little.
I think they are all AB figures.

15mm Napoleonics

The first of Al's piles of metal. A regiment of French Cuirassier. I used the same method as I did for the unit of Bavarian Cavalry posted earlier in this blog. Although Minifig and without he detailed depth of Old Glory they have come out ok.

Since this I have do another unit of Cuirassier, a unit of Hussars and a unit of Imperial Guard foot, the 'Dutch' Guards. Pictures to follow.
